Why Are There More Wheels Than Doors In the World?

There are more wheels than doors in the world – that’s a fact – but why are there more wheels than doors in the world? It could be because there are more cars than houses, more trucks than gardens, and more containers than homes. However, this is only one side of the story. There is another side to it; more people live in cities than in suburbs or rural areas; there are more apartments than single-family homes, and the growth of the urban population between 2007 and 2016 has been larger than that of the suburban or rural population. There are more wheels because people prefer to live in apartments and commute instead of buying a house and driving every day. There is a reason behind these stats as well. We explore some of them, so as to understand why there are more wheels vs doors in the world:

Definitely more wheels than doors here!

Urbanization is the key reason for more wheels than doors in the world.

The world is going towards more urbanization. According to the UN, by 2050, almost two-thirds of the world’s population (65%) will live in cities—up from one-half today. As the number of people living in cities has increased, so too has their share of CO2 emissions. The reason behind this shift is people moving toward cities and suburbs to earn a living. Another reason behind this shift is the desire to live in a better environment. But the fact is that cities are not that environment friendly. Urbanization decreases the per-capita use of energy, but it increases the total amount of energy consumed by society. More people on the same land means more energy is needed for transportation and housing.

More People Live in Cities Than in Suburbs or Rural Areas.

Cities are home to about one-half of the world’s population. In 2017, some 54% of the global population lived in urban areas, according to UN data. This percentage has been rising globally since the 1950s when cities were home to less than a third of the world’s people. Urbanization creates many opportunities and challenges, including impacts on climate change, as well as a wide variety of social, economic, and political issues. The transition from rural to urban areas is driven by multiple factors, including economic factors like employment opportunities, and demography – particularly population growth in developing countries, as well as other factors such as political, cultural, and social factors.

More Apartments Than Single-Family Homes

The world has more apartments than single-family homes. More than half of the world’s population now lives in cities, compared to just one-third in 1990. Now, one-third of them live in single-family homes, and another third live in apartments. One of the main reasons behind this trend is the fact that it’s impractical for families to buy a house in the city, especially if they have kids. Cities are growing very fast, and the housing stock is not growing at the same rate. As a result, housing prices are increasing, and they’re becoming unaffordable for a large number of people. Apartments, on the other hand, are more affordable, and they are popping up in the big cities like mushrooms.

Increased Urban Population From 2007 to 2016

In some countries, the growth of urban populations has been much larger than the growth of suburban or rural populations. This has been the case in Australia, Brazil, China, Indonesia, Mexico, and the Philippines. In Australia, for example, the urban population grew 12%, while the rural and suburban populations grew 7% and 4%, respectively. Urbanization can bring many benefits, including economic growth, job creation, and rising incomes. However, there are also challenges associated with urbanization, such as more pollution, more crowded roads, and more pressure on public services such as health care and education.

That’s a lot of doors, but no wheels to be seen!

Vehicles are an essential part of goods delivery. Without them, the supply chain would literally stop. Every day, millions of tons of goods cross borders, oceans, and even continents. They are delivered by planes, trains, ships, and trucks. There are many trucking companies, and they’re in fierce competition. They want to lower transportation costs and increase revenues, so they try new technologies, new routes, and new methods. One of the new methods is using autonomous or self-driving trucks. They use sensors and cameras to avoid accidents and over-the-road (OTR) drones to deliver freight.

Commuting is part of urban life.

Commuting is part of urban life. According to a survey, people in big cities spend 2 hours per day in transit. What’s more? This time spent in transit is increasing, and we can expect it to grow even more in the future. One of the main reasons behind this trend is the fact that cities are growing, and people are moving there in search of better living standards. One might say that, in a way, all of this is natural—more people move to cities, more people use cars, and more people use public transport. But one could also say that there are more wheels than doors in the world because of urban sprawl, which goes against sustainable development.

It doesn’t matter that there are more wheels than doors in the world, just as it wouldn’t matter the other way around. The question of whether there are more wheels than doors in the world was really just a silly discussion that probably began on a forum somewhere and then went somewhat viral.

If you’re a proper gearhead you’d probably prefer there to be more wheels than doors. Let’s face it; four wheels are always good on a vehicle, but it’s even better if there are only two doors rather than four – or even worse – FIVE!!!!
